A bill book format you can hand to a printing press or print at home: a ready layout, size and copy options, Hindi headings, and free Word and PDF files.
What a bill book is
A bill book is a pad of pre-printed, pre-numbered bills, usually in duplicate or triplicate with carbon or carbonless paper. Shops, transporters, tent houses, tailors and service businesses use them because they need no computer and every bill leaves a copy in the book.
Most presses print bill books in A5 (half A4) or A4, 50 or 100 sets per book, with your name, address, GSTIN and a numbered box. You give them the layout; this page gives you one.

Choices to make before printing
| Option | Common choice | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Size | A5 for shops, A4 for GST B2B bills | A5 is cheaper and fits a counter |
| Copies | Duplicate (2) or triplicate (3) | GST goods invoices are made in three copies |
| Paper | Carbonless (NCR) | No carbon sheets to insert |
| Numbering | Printed, starting from 0001 | Never skip or repeat |
| Binding | Pad with perforation | Tear off the original, copy stays |
If you are GST registered, the printed layout must have room for all tax invoice details: see the GST bill format. Mark copies as “Original for recipient”, “Duplicate for transporter” and “Triplicate for supplier” for goods.
Hindi bill book format (बिल बुक प्रारूप)
Many shops prefer the headings in Hindi. Use the same layout with these headings:
| English | हिन्दी |
|---|---|
| Bill No. | बिल संख्या |
| Date | दिनांक |
| Name | नाम |
| Particulars | विवरण |
| Quantity | मात्रा |
| Rate | दर |
| Amount | राशि |
| Total | कुल योग |
| Amount in words | शब्दों में राशि |
| Signature | हस्ताक्षर |
Numbers and GSTIN stay in English digits so the bill matches GST records.
